September 28, 2013 in Samara the Latin American musical party was organized in honor of Victor Jara's birthday. The local band "Unbeknown Land" ("Неведомая Земля", www.unland.su) performed songs and instrumental compositions by Victor Jara and other musicians of Latin-American New Song (Nuevo Cancion), and also some popular melodies from South American continent. The band members not only played music of Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Cuba, Mexica, but also told some stories about the history and culture of different Latin American nations. Organizers of the party made an attempt to recreate the atmosphere of Latin American musical cafeterias named "peñas" where visitors can listen to good music, eat tasty meal, dance and communicate freely with musicians.
